Outreach

How 10% of our giving is spent
Missions and Outward Giving
Christ Church supports a range of mission and service activities, both with money and time from members of the congregation. Of all the planned giving that Christ Church is given, ten percent is given to service and mission organisations.
Active Relationships
We aim to do much more than send cheques to a list of organisations. We want to foster support where we are developing two way active relationships, and we have a personal relationship with the organisation or activity so that people can be enthused and want to give their support.
Wide-ranging support
We ensure a mixture of financial support for service work locally (e.g. Guildford YMCA), nationwide (e.g. Church Pastoral Aid Society), and abroad (e.g. Msalato Theological College in Tanzania). We also give practical support to Make Poverty History, Traid Craft, and Love in a Box. Seasonal gifts are given to The Children's Society and Christian Aid.
In addition, the Seedcorn Programme provides support to Christ Church members with the aim of encouraging short term experience in Christian outreach work.
Champions
In order to achieve active relationships, the majority of the organisations have "champions" - people in the church family who have a heart and passion for a particular organisation, and who have enthused others to help them give time and money to that activity. Some also have small group support (e.g. home groups). We are always looking for people to help take part in the activities that are carried out by our champions throughout the year.
